Is this kit needed for USDM ITR Transmission?

Or can just this be used?

If you have a JDM type R tran, you would not need the extra parts shown in the first pic right?

98-00 jdm itr transmission N3E only needs the ring gear (final drive) from ats
96-97 jdm itr/97-88 usdm itr/00-01 (4.4 ring gear (final drive) would need all the parts listed in the first post (distance collar/needle bearings/ring gear/main shaft)

This is like the 10th ATS FD thread made this week. It is like HT is peer pressuring me into buying a kit for myself.

This most definately would be the best time to start a group buy for the ATS.

What does it drop your top end speed to? 131mph? 120-130mph is cruising speed for me. How much does it improve quarter mile times by? Sacrafice top end for more low end fun. Damn that is a hard choice to make.

for you, i would suggest swapping in an LS 5th gear at the same time as the ATS FD

Someone had posted a numbers a while back, I think it's somewhere around 137.

For all the road courses that I've driven on (and intend to drive on next year) I don't think I'll ever run out of top speed.

My guess is, for most people, you'll be around 140mph, which is still plenty.

I can try to work something out with ATS, since i am a dealer with them. I would need to know how many people would be in on this.

Thanks for the info. 131@8k. It's a hard decision for me. I already have the Audi wagons passing me, with the kids in the back waving.

Whats the LS 5th gear going to do for me? Is it taller/smaller numerically? Will the RPM drop drastically when I shift to 5th? I don't want it to fall on its face.

the LS fifth gear is taller and will help alleviate your rpm problems @ speeds over 100mph

as for the falling on its face when you shift, it depends on when you are shifting to 5th gear, if you are shortshifting, i would imagine the car would "fall on its face"

i am suggesting the LS 5th gear for you bc you have a specific need for it...

those of us not lucking enough to be able to cruise @ 120 have no need for a taller 5th gear
