Default Trying to determine extent of damage...

Well, as a few of you know, the bumper on my R had a "confrontation" with a drum hub that came off of a Ford F-150 on the highway the other day at about 55mph. Well, what I'm trying to do now is get an accurate scope of the damage that it may have done. I've driven the car carefully up to freeway speeds (60mph) to see if I could hear anything unusual or to see if I've bent a rim. Doesn't feel like I bent a rim (no sign of vibration in steering wheel) and I checked the suspension arms, they seem fine. Doesn't look like the drum even touched them. Well, I ran over the drum once my bumper knocked it flat, is there anything I should have them inspect closely for damage? Is there any possibility that a wheel bearing may have gotten damaged? See I just don't know. I guess my main question is, aside from the obvious damage done to the bumper of the car, who do I have inspect the mechanical aspects of the car that might be affected? The dealership? Please help out, I'm new to this situation.

I would suggest you have an alignment done and do a careful inspection under the car for damage. While you¡¦re at it you could have the wheels spun up on a balancer to see if they are Ok. But from the sounds of your tests you probably will be ok.

Yeah, he was on the side of the road, not going anywhere for a while. But I did talk to him and got his license plate #, and his insurance info. I called my insurance company and they said that because he didn't keep his vehicle in a "safe" condition, his insurance company will pay for all damages. I'm going to find out if I can get his insurance company to pay for the wheel balance, alignment, and inspection.
