Code 73(cylinder 3 misfire) possible causes???
just had a real quick question, my wife has a 96 Honda Accord and her CEL popped up yesterday and I checked it and it was code 73. I changed the plugs and wires and it still runs bad. is there anything else I should be looking at? I'm planning on changing the cap and rotor tommorow, i'm hoping for the better and expecting the worst. If that does'nt solve the problem anyone else know what I should do? Thanks for your help. BTW it's an LX model with 96,000 miles.
Probably wouldn't hurt to run a bottle of Techron or something like that thru the gas tank. Maybe an injector is beginning to get dirty?? Someone suggested checking plug gap in your other thread - you got new plugs, but sometimes they're gapped wrong??
will have to agree with HazardousAccord. if you look at this the first thing i would try is to get another gasket for it and give it a good clean as it may just be clogged with carbon so it can not spring open and shut propaly
I had a misfire on my 96 accord EX and it was a clogged fuel injector. If you take a long screwdriver and touch it to the injector while it is running and then put your ear on the other end you should hear a clicking. If you don't then you know that injector isn't working. Real easy fix if that is it. Only took me a couple of hours by myself to pull the fuel rail and wipe em off. Good luck.
