I have a chance to buy a Type R!! Please Help!!!
Hi everyone!!
I have a chance to buy a yellow 2001 Type R, all original, stock with only 25,000 for around $19,000. It has all the documentation.
My dilemma is that I've been wanting a Type S. In fact I went to look at the new 2005 Type S when the Type R popped up on the used car lot there
!!!
Which would you buy?
Opinions and advice welcome!!!

Depends on what you want. I've driven RSX's and they feel more luxurious than the R. To me, the R feels more like a sports car, and handles like a dream. I also think it looks better. But you also have to look at the fact that it's 4 years old. If you want a new car, then get the RSX, if you want a fun car to drive get the ITR.

Um hello? A 2001 ITR with that low of miles is rare, and it is just as reliable as the Type R. In terms of fun, both cars are similiar, but the ITR weighs less and is a little bit quicker.
If you are llooking for a more comfortable ride and a nicer interior go for the type S. If you are looknig for a rare car that will turn heads go with the ITR.

Take into consideration insurance, interest rates, and taxes. If you buy the R from a private party, you shouldn't have to worry about sales tax, depending on your state. You will probably get a better interest rate on a new car if you are financing. A warranty is something else to look at. Is the R still under warranty? Does it have an extended warranty or can you buy one? It would suck if you were financing a vehicle and had to shell out extra cash for repairs.
Yes it's a certified vehicle, so it comes with a warranty. I think this paticular car has the extended warranty-to about 60,000 miles

First drive both and then take into consideration the insurance and theft rates. I also was in the same situation when I bought my R. I guess I'm not to fond of the RSX body style although the 05 looks a little better.
ITR over RSX any day. Just be prepared to protect the vehicle from theft. ITR's are becoming extinct faster than the Dodo
It depends on your age view's on daily comfort and theft safety if this is your only vehicle. I guess I am getting old because my 1st R back in 97 was my daily car and didn't mine all the hassle.
Now getting older, having another normal car as daily ride to office, makes my weekend 00R as a fun ride which never gets bored and don't have to worry safety issue.
05 Type S would makes a good all around car without hassles. Only thing IMO I don't like is
I see too many secretaries driving RSX which
get stereotype by other too easy.

I have to agree ....... right now the RSX is more of a chick car and not a guy car.
I purchased one of the first 02 RSX type S out, back in Sept of 01. I was very happy to get rid of it and get the 97 type R.

Then understand that you are buying a car that in any and every corner of this country is a magnet for thieves. If you plan on running errands, going to the movies/mall and leaving it in a lot, then know eventually it will get stolen.
I'm not trying to be a dick, but it is the truth. If you buy it, please be safe. It would be a shame to give them another caR.
