i would take it , if i could drive it if i shift to second gear and hit the gas
it give it too much fuel and die shut off the car

uh..... check the timing belt.
also. was any work done to your head during the "down time" if so. maybe you are in need of a valve adjustment.
also, be sure that your map sensor is plugged in.
it sounds like you need to adjust your valves and check the cam timing. you may not have been at TDC when you put the head back on.
its happened to alot of people...they remove the head, do work on the block and just slap the head on and adjust the cams to top dead center and put the timing belt on. it will idle if the piston is almost at TDC but soon as you give it gas it gets all kinds of F#@$ed up, espically when your timing is advanced or retarded.

i lowered it to see if that would help and no good there .

what did you lower it to? what do your plugs look like? Are you sure all vacuum lines are secure? double check your FPR gauge vacuum line.

i was thinking that too. when i put my head back on the timing was fux0red and the car would just sputter and barely move... was off like a tooth maybe
