VERY INTERESTING price difference for parts on the parts site
got my first car, a 91 accord lx.
couple of things broken on the front passenger door: the door handle, and the power window switch. honda quotes 57 bucks for the switch, outrageous. i took the thing out, it feels like 70 cents at most. the door handle: honda quotes 40 bucks. also nuts, considering how fragile the piece is.
so i went on a quest to find the parts for cheap
my search led me to an ebay posting which sold the door handle for 14 bucks plus 6 for shipping. i wasnt happy. i wanted to order everything from the same place to save on shipping, ofcourse.
my next stop was this website: I hit the site by entering the part numbers on google that honda gave me on its quote.
http://www.hondapartsdeals.com/allprods.php
the part that i needed was 35760-sm4-003, the window switch, listed on the above url as $12
and 72125-sm4-003zc, the door handle. listed at that url for $17.43
on this page, only the part numbers are listed. i had to make sure i was getting the right thing.
so, on the SAME website, i clicked on the "parts" link in the upper left corner of the very same page that listed the parts. i entered the info for my car,
model:accord
year:1991
trim: 4dr Lx
tranny: 4AT
emission: KL
system: interior/bumper
component: front door lining
this lead me to a new page with a diagram of the front door of the car, labeled with the different parts that were on it.
following that was a list of parts, where i found the same part, 35760-sm4-003. on this page, the part was actually labeled with a description, switch assy, power window. except that here, the price is listed as $37.11, as opposed to 12 bucks from the same website from a page without a description.
i did the same search for the door handle case(by the way, this is the plastic part that is a frame for the door handle, the door handle comes attached to this piece)
by enetering different info on navigation page:
system: body /air conditioning
component: front door locks
72125-sm4-003zc, described as "case, R, inside, palmy gray" illustration 010 where 010 in the diagram is a picture of the door handle peice, except that for here it is listed at $19.21, as opposed to 17.43 on the other page with no descriptions.
what gives? is the first page i hit some kind of back door dealer entrance?
anyone know whats going on?
