jiffy lube guy told me if i use synthetic oil(like mobil 1) i dont need to change my oil until 5000 miles and if i use regular recycle oil i need to change it every 3000 true or false? and why?

 

we even on regular the owner's manual say's 7000 miles

but i do 3000miles or 6 month what ever comes first no matter what oil i use.

but synthetic can be expensive.

 

i used to work at jiffy lube and we were not supposed to tell the customer that. he just tried to make a sale. change your oil every 3000 miles. with synthetic you can go a little more becuause it doesnt break down like regular conventional oil, but change it every 3000. btw which jiffy lube did you go to?

 

Theoretically if you use synthetic oil it can hold up until 5,000 miles but it is never a good idea to go that long without changing the oil b/c the oil isn't you weakest link, your oil filter is. I suppose some oil filters may be able to handle that but I prefer to be safe rather than sorry.

 

You cant ever really change your oil too much, I have the money to spend so I use Mobil 1 and change on a 2350 mile interval, never more than 2500 and i have great results
