Got some competition...Srt4
Today my dad(age 52) pulls in the driveway with a 2004 Srt4 stage 2(electric blue)......i was skeptical about them but i drove it and i gotta say that thing moves( i think it has 265 horse and 280 ft lbs), handling wasnt the best and felt like it had more oversteer then my R but it is a great car for the money.....so now when i get my car finished me and him are going to track to have some fun, i will posts some pics prob of my car and his car together
They are very fast cars, but I still think ITR's are more capable on a road course. Just ask Austin
He was doing better times than a SRT-4 with custom coilovers, sticky tires, and some mild upgrades.

Def a fast car for 20K. Motor is built well too so no BS about it being a POS dodge. Grab some 1G ACR suspension parts, throw them on and your pops would be a happy camper for not much $$$.
The neon really does need a facelift now though. Dodge has basically slapped the Japanese SCC makers in the face with the SRT4 with its great motor and potential, now they need to re-work the exterior IMO.

Yea it is a great motor and the handling could use a tweak here and there....as for the interior its alright, the guages are cool but it has roll down windows in the rear and just seems to be an ordinary interior. My dad is plannin to do an intake first and go from there, he doesnt want it to be extremely fast buts wants it to be fun.....the funniest thing is when we went out and friends were askin if i got a new car and im like no its my dads and there like no way..haha...its funny my dad could smoke alot of my friends around by me

if you could figure out that the srt4 has more oversteer than a itr, I dont want to live near by you, and i fear the safety for any small children living by you.

FYI: Suspension and a Progress rear bar really help the car on the track.
Brakes are must, the factory brakes are good for about 1 lap

yea they are really fast for the money. Lightly modded those things can be running 13.0 at the track. I have seen it personally as one flew by me haha.

If you've been living in a box in the middle of no-where for the past seven or eight years you would know that the Type R was the car that other companies tried to aspire to create and magazines used for comparison. Pretty funny that after three or four years after its demise in the states, there are still mentions of the R in major publications.
to a car that can still hold its own.
I bet this guys dad has his 'quality' SRT-4 in the shop in less than six months. True it is fast, but it's still a Dodge Neon when you walk into the garage every morning.

I bet you that you're wrong. That motor is pretty stout. Its not the normal headgasket eating neon motor. My neighbour 2 houses down has one with over 400 WHP daily driven. Sure it doesn't handle like and R or an M, but most neon owners never track their car anyway.

He commutes pretty far everday and he just wanted something that was fun to drive everday to work.....he also got it cause it was an 04 with 18k miles and the stage 2 for 16k thats why he didnt want to pass it up.....he doesnt do scaa racin or go the track but you never he might get into it but i think its a pretty damn good car for the money.

looks like a fun car cant beat the price. the ones i've seen with intake, exuast etc.. sounds like there driving under water making a gargling noise.
Tell me about it! Mid-Life Crisis or what? My dad at age 51 just picked up an 05' White on Gold STi...go figure.
Best part is that the car is his daily driver. Sheesh.

that's funny because the ITR is just a civic.

Waaah, it's just a Neon...sounds like you're envious of the power output. You all get pissed off when someone doesn't respect the ITR and then you act like you're better than everyone else. Grow up. Respect is a two way street. If you want it, you have to give it where it is deserved.
