Hey everyone, I need help. I recently threw a cel. I checked and found it to be code 22, which has something to do with VTEC and oil pressure??? Does anyone have any ideas of what may have caused this. The only noticeable problems is that when I get on the highway and I punch it, the car wants to go but it feels like the power comes on and off. Any ideas anyone????? BTW I have a 99 gsr w/ a Greddy EVO exhuast thanks guys.

 

usually caused by weak oil pressure.

3 main causes.....
Oil level low
Oil too thin from use (5k+ miles since last change?)
VTEC gasket screen clogged.

 

Thanx for the response, i got the oil changed 2 weeks ago. Do you have any ideas that would cause the engine to lose the oil. I checked I don't seem to be leaking oil anywhere, so what's the deal????

 

Did you check the oil level on your dipstick. Maybe they did not put in enough, and you burned off enough to cause a problem.

Did this happen all of a sudden or were you messing around with things in the car?

 

The car was running with alomost no oil in it, so i filled it with about 3 qts of synthetic. It seems to be running better, but the check engine light is still on.

Yeah I know , I gotta figure out what's causing me to burn so much oil....
