Hey so I have the new SOHC VTEC ZC in the engine bay all hooked up to the best of my knowledge and when I try to start her up it wants to start but it just wont. I'm getting gas, spark, and air but she wont start up. Please help me and toss out as many suggestions as possible so I can get this baby going and rip around in it.

btw, my vtec solenoid is currently not hooked up to anything as I am still figuring out the wiring. Do I need to run a ground from that wire for the car to start?

Is she cranking?
Try checking:
Grounds
battery(low maybe)
Hate to be a Cop-out BUT - "is your fuel relay activating when you turn on the car?"


As for wiring don't forget to ground that wire...

She wants to start soooo bad she cranks at first then dies out right away and if I try to start her after that I just get regular noises from the starter and no cranking then eventually full horrible clicking sounds (I'm guessing because the battery is old and I have been trying to start the car 10000 times now).

If anyone can answer this it may help:
Does the vtec solenoid NEED to be plugged into anything in order for the car to start?

and yes fuel pump is pressurizing is that what you mean?

 

do you have compression

 

check compression, then plug spark, battery, cables, fuel system not in that order

 

I have got all of those things!

 

check them again.

 

She even revs up to 1000 rpm for 2 seconds or so then just dies out.

 

im having problems with my car also. my car starts up then it dies like after a few seconds. sometimes it starts and just dies right when my CEL light goes nuts and flashes hella times and while the CEL is flashing a relay under the dash next to the fuses is clicking. its a little black cube shaped that says Relay Assembly on it. and whenever i give it gas the car dies.

yours is probably main relay.. dunno if his could be the same..

that would be weird..
