i went to a body shop and asked them to match the stock side skirts with the rest of the car. they say they cant cuz the piece is textured and the paint will chip or crack off later. has anyone had their stock skirt painted?

 

I think they just need to add flex paint. go somewhere else. My friend did it and it looks good. I would do it too but thinking about the OEM body skirts.

 

mine were pro painted about 3 months ago and still look good and chip free I say do it just wet sand it good.

 

they just dont want to do the job, prob not worth their time and its their way of telling you to **** off, i would take it as an insult, but then again i know bodywork...haha, anyways, i had a set painted by my buddy and they look perfect

 

Drivin a white 94 GSR 4door.....Had mine painted in July of 00. No problems whatsoever. Like the other guy said make sure to scrub a dub them really good beforehand.

 

The place you went to obviously doesnt know what they are talking about. I had it done a year ago and they are in perfect condition still.

 

since the skirts were textured did the paint look smooth or textured?

 

I had two places tell me the exact same thing when I went to get my Front lip painted (I asked about the sides at the same time, they painted the lip). One was a local shop where my friends dad worked and the other, my uncles body shop. Neither one said the WOULDN'T do it, but they both said it would probably not last, and that they couldn't guarentee the work.

Maybe the just don't want to bother to sand it down...
