93 Cable GSR tranny wont fit! 91 LS bolts up fine!?!
I need the serach function! So I have a B20 in my CRX. Tried putting in a 93 GSR tranny, simply put, It would not go on. At all. We got the splines lined up on the input shaft to the clutch disk (which is for a 92-93 tranny) and from there it just wouldnt go on. Since its my DD I put the 91 disc back in and bolted up the 91 LS tranny in like 5 min. The input shafts are differnt and the GSR one is splined a bit longer but it should still go farther in before it wont go on if thats whats keeping me from bolting it up. Something was keeping me from bolting up, I just dont know what it was. Any help on WTF is going on, would be more then appriciated.

im pretty sure you're smoking crack cause that tranny will bolt up.......keep trying. New clutch discs are tough to install being they are new with tighter tolerances.
check the difference between the piolet bering in the flywheel if it goes in so far than stops it isnt going all the way into the piolet bering also check the dowel pins on the tranny case they might be in different places good luck
Its had to explain. We had the GSR input shaft in into the clutch disc, I know cause I'd turn the crank and you could hear the guts inside the tranny turnning. We shook and swung that tranny around for 45min ( 3 people) and could never get it to do what we wanted. The LS tranny took like 5 miniutes to bolt up. We could never get it close enough to the motor as to put in a bolt and start tightening it to bring the tranny closer to the block. I have the right clutch disc BTW. So I dunno, all B series trannies and flywheels are compatible correct?

90-91 are small spline, 92-93 are large spline - sounds like it would work if you put a 92-93 clutch disk on. You said the 92-93 GSR input shaft wouldn't match up with the 90-91 clutch, correct? Sorry, it was hard to follow your last post, because the first sentence seems like you are saying the 92-93 GSR input shaft was fitting into the clutch disk, but that should be impossible.

I have a clutch disc for a 90-91. I also have one for a 92-93. The proper disc was in when we were trying to install the GRS and LS tranny.

I had a similar problem -- turned out that the end of the input shaft was slightly deformed. Used a dremel to grind down the high spot and it went right on. As long as you're using the proper disc, everything else is compatible with either transmission.

Anyone else?</TD></TR></TABLE>
In my case, it was the pilot bearing (in the flywheel) that the shaft wouldn't fit into -- just the very tip of the input shaft was damaged. Clutch disc fit fine.
