If you torqued down a head gasket but never started the engine can you re-use it?

I wouldn't. It's not worth the risk of blowing a head gasket or ruining you're engine. Just go buy a new one.

Yep, done all the time.

But as with ANY headgasket, you should retorque at 100 miles, 500 miles, and at first oil change, 1000-1500 miles.

Yeah dude you can reuse it, you're going to be fine. Seen it done quite a few times on gaskets that weren't quite as new as yours but still new. And have never had any problems with them. You'll be 100% ok.

Buy a Cometic for less than $100, custom pick your thickness and they are reusable. I currently boost 22 lbs (soon to be 30) on a reused Cometic.
