B16A1 -> B16B
Hi guys. I have a Civic Vtec 1991 (ee9). https://honda-tech.com/zero...ge=24
My motor is quite old (240.000 km). The motor is in GREAT condition but i want to upgrade it in a few months. I have bought some Type-R products.
1)B18C Intake Manifold
2)B16B Pistons
3)B16B Camshafts
4)B16B Dual valve springs + retainers
In the next few days i will buy:
1)DC 4-1 Header
2)HKS Filter (80/200)
3)Custom Exhaust system (60mm diametre????)
4)Custom Made ECU
5)Oil Catch Tank
6)HODNATA intake manifold gasket
I have some questions though:
1)Do i need cam gears to tune the cams? (aftermarket or Type-R)
2)If you look @ the pic showing the valve springs, there are 3 types of SMALL springs! 8 of them are orange. 6 of them are red, and 2 of them are yellow!! Why ?? Which cylinder needs diffrent rates and why??

thanks!

whooaaa this is not 56K friendly, my T3 took a sec.
Anyways.
The b16b is a destroked version of the b18c5. So the pistons will work on your stock b16 rods. I dont think the rods from the b16b are the same lenght.
The cams and valvesprings will work. Im not too sure about the colors of the valvesprings or what goes where, sorry.
Cam gears could help a bit if you tune them on a dyno. I would just use you stock B16 cam gears. Same as ITR.
Just chip your ECU, much better plan (maybe thats what you ment by custom ecu)
I like my Hondata IM gasket, Keeps the heat down to some degree.
Good luck

sorry i forgot to mention that i will sell these connecting rods because i cant use them! (like hamiltonrex said). If i install those pistons in my B16A block the compression goes up to 11.2 : 1 which is pretty high, and this is good, cause i want to avoid using a thinner gasket.
If you are sure you can use them, i will contact the shop i bought them from and ask them (cause i will return them.) http://www.xm-parts.com They have very good prices in all products.
