Default Turboed Integra Type R

I was just wondering if it's safe to run a drag gen III turbo kit on a Integra Type R engine with stock internals? Like stock camshafts, pistons, rings etc. I know the ITR has high compression and I just wanted to know if anyone can give me more information. I do not want my motor to detonate on me. At low boost, there is currently 4.5 psi and at high boost 10psi. And what causes a motor to detonate?

You should really use the search function.

yes you can....

get a thicker headgasket and lower that compression by about 1.1:1. i made 307 hp / 195 ft/lbs at 7 psi on stock internals, and 347 hp / 218 ft/lbs at 11 psi with hondata s200b and RC440 injectors on a 9.5:1 compression headgasket.

had the track been hooking up by the time i ran, i would be able to post some decent times...

I have no problems, I also don't do religion...no prayers here...

Just don't take any shortcuts and understand the limitations of the stock motor and you'll be fine. You can browse my website for more info on turbocharging the ITR

Absolutely can't do it. Compression is way too high.

[QUOTE=PY Type R]I was just wondering if it's safe QUOTE]

read my sig..

detonation is caused by improper tuning, failure of fuel delivery parts, bad gas, overboosting, when you run lots of hp, you can't make mistakes. i woudln't recommend more than 220-240whp if you want it to last for a while.. otherwise, read my sig.

He's just talking about the headgasket, to lower compression. Stock valves/pistons/rods/crank. I think it qualifies.

Heat. Usually from running to lean, or to much advance. wrong heat range plug will do it too. I've seen a JDM B16 w/11:1 pistons, ctr cams, and Skunk 2 intake manifold running a DRAG III turbo. He usually runs 6psi on the street and 10psi at the strip. The car has been reliable and is running low 12's. If I had the extra dough I would do it. Just run it a little rich, be careful of how much timing advance you run, and replace your plugs more often if your worried about detonation.
