Default Vtec not working...Need help

ive got a 94 accord ex with about 52,000 miles and when ever i try to rev more than 4,500 RPM's the engine just stays in 4,500 RPM's and wont go pass that, even when im driving i noticed that the car picks up pretty OK but then the needle just stays in 4500 rpm's and stays there for like 3 seconds then the next gear kicks in and no sound of vtec kicking in. I really need help fast. What can the problem be, my guess are the oil pump or the vtec solenoid but i have no clue. So please help out a member here. Thanks in advanced.

so you can't go past 4500 rpm. I would tell you to check the oil level. My guess is it's too low, and more oil has to be added.
