When do 98ex civics lose power (rpm)

Default When do 98ex civics lose power (rpm)

I think between 4 and 5 but i might be wrong. Does anyone know when the best time to shift(when tring to go as fast as possible)?

??? redline it or somewhere between there.

I redline at 7.

But I think i lose power before that.

i usually shift around 6800... alot of the times the stock tach is off so it could be around 6500 rpm... but thats in my 1993 civic Si

move to canada lol... i got a good deal on mine ... a 1993 civic SI coupe 5spd with 84,000 km so 52,500 miles for 6,000 canadian or approx 4800 american

I got a really good deal on my 98excoupe- 81kmiles for $5000 (nothing wrong with it)

SIs are sweet though

The cheapest i can find them for around here are about 10k

Shouldnt you being looking at the horsepower/torque curve from a dyno to determine your best shift point? It may be worth going up to the redline even though power is not peak because when you shift you will hit a higher rpm in the next gear, which may be better than shifting at 6600 and hitting a lower rpm.

is talking about a D16z6 in a hatchback.

the reason for shifting close to the redline is because when you shift your next gear is closer to the peak hp.

yea i was talking about my d16z6 which is pretty close to the d16y8... only 2 hp less and 1 hp less for me.... but going to high is pointless when your making peak power at 6600 and its not all about peak hp dont forget about tq..... (and its in my Si Coupe lol)
