Turbo 1g CRX D15a3
Hey, my friend and I were sitting in his house, and picked up his ct26 off the ground. Figured we'd put it to use by putting it on his 1g crx.
I (ignorantly) thought it was fi...come to find out it's carbureted...but anyhow, how do you turbo a carb'd engine??
I've been searching all over for information on turboing a carb'd engine, but no luck. There was some turborex site that had a 1g crx, but in the pics...it had an fi im...and in the instructions/installation writeup, it had NOTHING to do with the IM.
Anyone on here have a turbo d15a3? If you do, could you let me know how it was done? I was thinking of a box sealing the carb...like people have been saying, but how would I compensate for the fuel? or maybe the afr period... A fuel pressure regulator with increased boost?
Any input would be awesome, and i'll be sure to post a writeup once done... thanks
If this should be in the fi forum...sorry, move to fi forum if you feel the need mods. thanks

Here is pic of a turbo kit for a carb'd 12a rotary...
The silver plate in the middle goes ontop of the carb..then the silver thing on the right goes on top the the plate and acts as the collector..the rest is self-explanatory
Its pretty hard control the fuel with a carb....Rotarys love fuel but I know honda motors flood easy so u have to be very carefull.......

Exactly...... what you would need to do is build a box or a type of inlet that would bolt up to the top of each carb. Totally replacing your filter because you use a filter at the turbo inlet. The only problem would be tuning the carb for the extra air.
Here is an example.

yeah i know...anyone have suggestions on that? Plus I think i'd have problems with the boost pressure blowin the fuel back into the bowl.
cmon, i know someone here has a turbo d15
I've never played with FMU's before, but wouldn't an fmu fix the leaning problem? or is that a rising rate regulator that I'd need....? anyhow, am i barkin up the wrong tree?

also, would getting smaller air jets and smaller fuel jets compensate for the lean/rich mixture??
smaller fuel jets will lean out the low to mid rpm range, and smaller air jets will richen mixture at mid to high rpm....

Screw you guys, I'm... going... home.

Well, for the record, a D15A3 engine IS fuel injected. At least mine and every one I've ever seen is.
In all honesty, I think it would be easier to do an mpfi swap and turbo that than it would be to turbo a carbed engine and make it run right. You can find the Si engines almost dirt cheap if you have a little patience. Check out http://www.redpepperracing.com and http://www.homemadeturbo.com
