Default Do valves need to be adjusted when moving to a new climate?

I have a 1994 Ex. I used to live in NJ but just moved to FL. Since I've been here my engine has been having increasing pinging and valve noise.
I just had them adjusted and the timing checked and a general tune up done before I left by a mechanic I know does good work and it ran fine.

Do you need to have a anything adjusted for climate changes or after long road trips? The only reason I thought this might be a factor is because my friend has the same situation with his practically brand new Altima.

If anyone could shed any light on this I'd appreciate it. I searched and didn't come up with an answer.
