That may be about $1,000 fine, plus impound. When you mess with smog devices or remove them, Cali punishes hard.

i have before, like when im going to privite runs, it makes a huge different from full exhaust to open dp, but my **** is so fucken crazy loud, like every dam car that drives by see's me/ hears that ****

i ran open dp like 4 weeks or so out of the year.

Just be carefull and when u see cops, shift to 5th gear and just drive super slow, it's not that loud then.

Ran a straight pipe the whole time I had my 93 DX hatch...Mated it to an ES oval muff...Other than the occasional time I'd pass out from the fumes, it rocked!

i run open downpipe on the streets on my wrx. Stock exhaust sticking out the back and people always go...wtf?? i'm running the QTEC cut-out, so i can switch back and forth. Good option if you like to run open downpipe but also stay "quiet" at times. But ya, the fines and penalties aren't really worth it in cali.
