Default dc jdm vs. jdm........doesn't make sense?

why is the jdm 4-1 ($400+) so much more than the dc jdm 4-1 ($290)? after the great header test the dc jdm was clearly a better header regardering power ........so why is the header which makes less power so much more?

also, if the jdm 4-1 makes power on usdm engines, how come the jdm engines are only rated at 198hp.....shouldn't it be more?

I don't think the great header test is going to affect the pricing of a Honda exhaust manifold. Your paying more because the JDM 4-1 is from Honda.

Good poitnon the motor thing and the difference in rated hp.

However, the '98 spec JDM R is rated at 210hp, not 197 like the pre-'98.

And the reason for the JDM Honda 4-1 costing so much more is because it's a genuine O.E product, and it has to be imported.

Go compare the price of a new Honda CD player to the cost of a more powerful aftermarket CD player and you'll find that even though the Honda unit is shittier, it will probably cost much more than the better aftermarket unit.

Not to mention that DC isn't exactly known for supreme quality workmanship..

My SS DC JDM 4-1 looks a hell of a lot better put together than the magical Honda OE piece does, tell you that much.

Yeah, I have been try to choose between the 2 headers my self...the JDM 4-1 does have a heat sheild. But the DC price is great.

Has anyone had any problems with the headers without heat sheilds?

Based on the results from the header tests, would you think the Mugen and the JUN header is the most over priced one? They cost $600+ more than the DC JDM, but the DC JDM fair better in that test!!

according to my hyper rev Integra book,
DOHC VTEC B18C 98 SPEC. R
MAX POWER 200PS/8,000 RPM
MAX TORQUE 19.0KGM/6,200 RPM
TYPE R ORIGINAL DESIGN ALUMINUM-WHEELS
TIRE SIZE 215/45ZR16
BRAKE DISK SIZE F/R 15"/14"
DISCHARGE HEADLIGHT

It is printed right on the back cover. But I dont know about the 15"/14" disk size as that seems way to big.

I dont like DC header for a couple reasons.

I had two on my car, and both got dented to ****...the material is thin as hell or something. And then, on one of them..it broke in two! No joke!
At the part where the collector is..right by the O2 sensor spot...the header straight up broke in 2! Liek someone took a hacksaw to it and cut it in two!
This was with USDM 4-1 headers.

No disrespect on anybody here...but if you guys have are denting headers, damn.....you must not be looking out for the huge speedbumps or your car is entirely too low....

Where's PHat R to tell us about his Mugen header dented to the shitznit.....Hey Mafay....how does the Spoon header stand up to the curbs and the bumps in gay *** 780?

Point is, again....not trying to be a dickcase.... header is not meant to support the weight of your car....

My car is not slammed, only lowered 1.8".
Ive had the JDM ITR for a while now and that has not dented at all..its stracthed up..but its taken the abuse.

A $100 difference in price is enough to make me slow down more for speed bumps Seriously, I can't warrant getting the Honda piece when the DC makes more power/torque and costs over a hundred bucks less.....

I don't know about it CLEARLY being a better header, they each have their advantages throughout the RPM range, none differing more than 1-2 hp over any given RPM...I went with the JDM 4-1 b/c of the heat shield and stealthiness. no bling bling here.

most japanese companies are way over priced as you can plainly see from the header test....there is no use for mugen at all.....I just bought the DC JDM 4-1 and I am using the comptech right now.....When I put it on I will tell you guys the difference in the "butt dyno" feeling

I'd argue against that only because this was an essentially stock R.... I'd like to see what the DC JDM would be capable of if it was put on a heavier breathing, moderately modified 18C......

ive had 2 dc sport headers and imo their the best bang for the buck headers. i dont see what the big fuss about them being crap is all about. imo "crap" headers are the kamikaze and pace setter stuff. ive also dyno'd them both and got good hp on a near stock motor. it might be true they might not be the best headers for a fully built engine, but thats no reason to "rag" on them.
