ok so i passed emmissions on my swap, but i couldnt prove that my 2.5 Carsound Cat was OBDII so i failed....i did some searching and it looks like Carsound now makes a OBDII CARB legal cat. Anyone know if it will pass? part # 43036 comes with a O2 bung too. Ive seen them on both http://www.heeltoeauto.com/mar...shtml and http://car-sound.com/universal/430.htm
Any smog guys that are reading this let me know if it will work

Did you get a carb sticker from the place that you got the carsound. I always thought carsound was legal. How is a cat not legal (other then a gutted one) when they could pass emissions? :scratches head: That confuses me.

thats what i was thinking, i passed emmissions with flying colors but i guess if its not OBDII then it doesnt matter. The Ref actually jacked up my car then pulled the part # from under my carsound cat

In the paragraph at the top of that page it says those cats are made and catalogued for specific vehicles. The cat you bought probably wasn't intended for your application. They’re meant to be stock replacements. You got a 2.5" cat and your original one is probably smaller.
from http://www.car-sound.com/universal/430info.htm
"They are designed, tested, and catalogued for specific vehicles. They are not traditional universal converters. "
"The specific vehicle applications exempted by the CARB for Series 43000 are included in our catalog. Other applications are NOT automatically exempted."
And of coarse they're online catalogue isn't up.

i went to the Ref Station in Sacramento off of Business Dr.
the first time i went there the guy was cool about stuff and even complimented me on the swap even though i failed, but the second time this other guy was being an ***. I failed the visual inspection said cat modified and wiring to sensors modified. I understand that they considered the cat to be modified but wiring? I used a Si harness and on top of that i repinned the wires for the second O2 and didnt butt connect ****.

That guy was being a dick, because you have to modfided the O2 sensor to make it reach the Bung anyways.. What an ***... And about the CAT modified, again of course it's modify it's an aftermarket CAT that is build to OEM spec..
