Odd cluth problem
Hi everyone,
I've been avoiding this problem for too long. I've done some searching through the site and I haven't been able to find a problem so similar to mine.
If you could lend me an ear (eyes), here is my problem:
- To lead up to my tranny problems.... my 3rd and 5th gears are known to grind when shifting at high RPMs (syncho problem). I double clutch to avoid this.
- One day all of a sudden my clutch felt a bit mushy and I found that it was difficult to engage/disengage from gears. I re-bled the clutch and the pedal now feels better, but the shifting is still difficult at times.
- To try and put into words, it feels as though the shifting is difficult because it seems like maybe the pressure on the clutch isn't being fully supplied through the pedal. I.e. As though you were shifting by pressing down the pedal 1/4 of the way. The odd thing is, this happend all of a sudden one morning.
- Symptoms:
- Shifting is smooth only at really low RPM's (under~ 2k).
- When shifting at higher RPM's (~3k+) it's sometimes difficult to get out of gear or put back into the next gear (Shifting required more strength)
- Not only am I grinding in 3rd, and 5th, now it seems to grind on all gears.
- Even when I double clutch, it sometimes grinds in all gears.
Although I'm inexperienced, here are some of my thoughts:
- I didn't bleed the clutch properly, still air in the lines
- Master and/or slave clutch cylinder needs replacing
- Clutch needs replacing
Your input is appreciated.
Cheers,
Matt

double clutch upshifting?
How does that work, outside the Fast and the Furious?
Early last year when I was on my stock clutch w/ about 135K miles on it, I decided one time to ride 2nd gear up to redline. Immediately after that, it was hard to shift into all gears. I replaced my clutch soon after, and found pieces of metal from around the clutch disc springs had broken off. My guess is you need a new clutch.

You actually can double clutch up oddly enough. When I first heard about it I was confused too. You just don't blip the throttle. You can actually avoid the grinding when you do it right.

dude! i have the exact same problem too!!! just recently happened
after 3000rpm, my 3rd and 5th gear will grind. it first happened when i redlined second gear and going into 3rd, it just grinded and did it ever since. and 5th gear grinded when i redlined 4th gear and shifted it into 5th and did it ever since too.
I tried the transmission oil change but that didnt do ****
the mechanic teacher looked at my car at school and said it might be teh slave and master cylinder for my clutch so im probably gonna get all that stuff with a new clutch and pressure plate.
if that doesnt work then i have to fix my syncros which would such ***!!!
i hope you fix that problem, if you do, please tell me about it
