Default Ignition is dead? ...

Hey guys, A turbo timer went into my car and was being soldered but the accessory wire from the ignition was exposed and tapped into the metal steering column causing a spark. After that spark the turbo timer became dead so did the radio/clock in the car. I checked acouple fuses and no signs of being blown? Any specific ones I should check for? When I put the keys in the car it will just sit there. All lighting works except for the radio/clock. I can't start the car at all. It just turns as if the car has NO battery at all. No noises of anything come on when i turn the key to start.. ANY HELP?

FYI: 1997 Civic EX

I'll give that a try, but my headlights and dash lights still work?

try the clock/radio fuse or just start checking all the fuses under the dash.

thats a tuff one man. Never happened to me before but I would check every fuse on the car, and if that wasnt the case move on to the starter.

I'm guessing something on the ignition switch itself might've got fried as a result of that spark? I had something similar happen to a foglight switch. The LED blew out, and the switch didn't work. I took it apart and saw black burn marks on the silicone wafer inside the switch.

I was inspecting my ignition switch not too long ago, and I think I remember seeing a silicone wafer inside. I had my key in the igntion, with the door open, and the beep stopped after I took out the switch and removed the contacts. Clock didn't work, but the cigarette lighter did (I was using a light that plugged into the cigarette lighter socket).

If you find that all your dash and hood fuses are good, definitely check out the starter. When you turn the key to the on position, does the ecu boot up and the fuel pump turn on? If so, I would definitely say it is the starter, but check it before you try to replace it.
