I feel my car kinda shaking while I am in gear. My cv boot is ripped. Could this be the cause?

I took my car in to change the water pump, timing belt and various hoses. It came out more fucked than it went in

 

If your car shakes when yor in gear and you hear a clicking sound goin around turns its usually a cv joint. dont bet on the clicking though, if you just had the timing belt W/P done at a less than reputable shop they may have cut them. Check to see if there is any grease left in the joint or evidence that the joint is throwing grease. I had an alignment and tires done a while back and when I got it back I found a broken lug nut, a cut CV boot and both steering arm boots cut. But luckily I just had Both CV's changed a month prior at the same shop and raised enough hell to where they replaced the CV and the lug but no luck on the steering arm boots, hope this helps you out!

 

Well, with your CV boot ripped, I am pretty sure this is a potential hazard, if not the cause of your problems. Good luck.

Shaking under acceleration is usually a sign of a bad inner cv joint.
If you've also got an outer boot torn, just replace the axle all together.

 

Yeah, sounds like the CV boot. Does it only click when you are turning or all the time while driving?

 

How much does it cost to replace an axle?

 

I had my passenger side replaced for $105. That was with labor. If I wasn't at school and have to work later that night, I would have done it myself, and it would have been $80 just for the axle. If you can do it yourself, I would just to save the money. It isn't that hard and shouldn't take more than 20 min. at most.

I am pretty sure that I would get my CV boot fixed, and while I am at it, take a look/replace my axle if I were you if it is ripped. Rather be safe than sorry!!
