This might sound stupid but how do i make my EG sound system sound like my old Preludes system?
My 5th gen prelude had a bangin' system stock (acoustic feedback system). The bass hit real nice with its 6x9s and i believe it came with a baby stock amp somewhere in the car. Well i want to produce that same sound with my EG. What would i have to do to do this? Not looking of packing a heavy sub either.
I already gehtto'ly replaced my blown stock rear speakers with some stock GSRs from a friend which improved it some what. But it still lacks bass which im hoping by replacing the front 5 1/2 speakers in the front with some 6.5s will help with the bass problem. But does anyone know if it will hit as hard as my stock prelude sound system?

are you serious? why dont you invest in some aftermarket speakers like boston acoustics, mb quarts, or infinities. they'll blow your prelude sound system through the wall. get a decent head unit too that puts out 200 watts or a amp and a bass tube.
well it prolly wont hit as hard, because you have no amp. if you put a amp in it will help them. also, i didn't know that you could put 6 1/2 in the front? But really the only way to get alright pound is to buy 6x9 and find a place to put them. that is the only way to get around subs

If you havent heard a 1997-2001 prelude sound system, it punishes any other stock sound system by alot. Sounds like you have a sub in the back with the 2 subs but with out the weight. People countless time have asked me if i had an aftermarket system in my car. Seriously if you havent you should check it out.
With a little ghetto rigging i could fit anything.
I was thinking about just taking stock prelude sound system which i see for sale all the time on ebay with the amp 6x9s and the rest of the goods for like cheap, ghetto rigging that up.

I put a factory lude head unit in my car and I have to saw it was a world of difference even on the stock speakers...plus its got that clean factory look that blends witht he car, doesn't stick out.

Yea thats what im using right now. But i blew my stock speakers thanks to me listening to it too loud.
I still kept pumping it loud even though they were blown. I messed up the back ones so bad at one point that they wouldnt even give out sound but just a loud buzzing noise. haha

i have a 99 prelude, i have kenwood mp3 head unit, 6-channel McIntosh amp, Nakamichi 12in sub with nakamichi component speakers & nakamichi 6x9s. Personally, i think it sounds much better than that stock paper speakers that came in it.
in my hatch i went lightweight solution, JL componets in the front, 6x9s in the rear deck with a mp3 headunit and running all the speakers thorugh a small alpine amp (50x4).

why can you install the 6x9 where the rear hatch speakers would go?? I took out the panel and the size is very big, just make a custom board to mount the speakers and mount it to the chasis
Yea thats what i was thinking on doing before hand, and ghetto rigging it up.
What up venezolano. Hey I have a off topic question, a soccer player form bolivia got bought by a team in venezuela. His name is Baldivieso do you know what team he went to? He's the **** and i hope i can sometime catch a couple of his games.

I have heard just about every stock system there is, and GM blows them all away.
1. Cerwin Vega 6.5 40 watt RMS (front) = $40
2. Pyramid 6x9 150 RMS (rear, [JC Whitney
except for these speakers I don't buy anything from them]) = $60
3. Rockford 500X (actually it puts out 650 watts) = $220
= better bass and clarity than some cars with 10's. Go aftermarket when it comes with sound. I can guarantee you will find better. Good luck

Yea but im a cheap bastard. All those components you just named cost alot more together then a prelude sound syststem which i see for sale on ebay occaisionally.
EDIT: list what you are willing to spend, and exactly what you have right now. I could probably recommend good cheap speakers that work with or without power.
Short of an Amp, I dont see anything good happening... A good head unit, and an amp can make some stock speakers sound much better, however, you will have to be careful, because stock honda speakers, like in my EX, were 15 watt...suckage... so probably like 7rms, ...
Your best bet from what I could tell, is to replace em... These cars arent the best in accoustics, a lot of the sound goes outside the car and within the body, the speakers I have now get too loud.. but in my old truck and in other cars, with dense interiors like toyota, they were much louder and clearer.
The simple fact is that in all of the cars but prelude, you are going to need a good system to sound the way you want in that eg. It just loses too much sound into the body... Ive figured ways to fix this, but i would need actual pictures of the speakers, the mounts, and some of the surrounding area to tell you what to do to that would make it more solid keeping the sound coming in, and not out of the car

Yes, you've been pretty clear about that. Honestly, the Prelude stereo wasn't that great, even for its time. I'm not a big fan of proprietary odd-ohm speaker sets that can't be easily replaced in parts.
And yes, I owned a 2001 for about a year.
There IS an audio forum you know... this question should be there anyway.

Yea im not much of an audio type guy, Im not looking for the best sounding stuff Just an upgrade to make on point with my old prelude system. Again my best might be average to most.

Well the accoustics of each individual car are going to be different. EG's have some rattle issues but try dynomating your doors, rear quarter panels, roof etc. (that should help with accoustics) then cut out holes for 6x9's in the back, put some 5 1/4's in the front get a mild 200 watt amp and you should be done. And any aftermarket speaker will sound better than stock speakers (in most applications excluding BMW and Volkswagon). I reccomend some cheap pioneer's or something. All in all you should spend about $200.
