in theory. if the auto has the right gear ratio's.. which most auto's are for lazy asses anyways therfore giving you that looooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnggggggggg *** gear ratio

but u could actually slap on a turbo on an automatic cus ion get how the pressure would release out of the bov on an automatic cus on manuel it releases when u switch gears how would that be relevant to automatics?

it wont release pressure i dont think when it switches gears.. just when you let off the gas. it releases pressure when the butterfly closes on the IM.
if the transmission isnt built for turbo, like lets say.. the volvo's are, or saab's.. then it'll just burn up those gears. especially if your lookin to race or have any sort of track numbers.
you can buy a built auto tranny, or if you got skills, rip apart yours and put in newer, stronger gears.. but thats up to your pocket book and how well u know auto tranny's.
really, in the long run, its not worth it.. gearing will be longer in auto tranny's so even if you had the same setup as a 5spd turbo, he'll still kick your ***, even if he has the longer 5spd LS tranny. because auto tranny gear ratio's are at the end of the slow list. then you have ur 5spd LS trans, then ur gsr/itr trans which is at the top of the list.

Actually the valve body, which is what controls the automatic trannies shifting, would burn up before the gears did. The torque converter would also take a fall. Getting an up rated valve body as well as a torque converter with a higher stall speed would be a WISE idea. Oh yeah, definitely get the gears modded to handle the power...maybe some aftermarket synchro's if they have them...some polishing and deburring...etc.
