00 ITR Vtec Problems

Default 00 ITR Vtec Problems
Everytime my car engages Vtec, it has some popping sounds. It comes from the exhaust and it really kills my performance. Has anyone had this happen or know what it could be?

back firing? Needs to change plugs? wires? dizzy cap/rotor?

Changed plugs, wires, cap and rotor. If I'm running rich what could cause it? Could it be due to my exhaust? I got a custom piping 2.25 and a 2.5 mugen 4-1 headers.

because popping (if you have crackling too) could be detonation...and that's bad
