Default intermediate shaft Q

I tried posting this in the hybrid section, maybe it was the wrong forum. I ordered my ZC engine and tranny, and it came with a free inermediate shaft, can someone explain to me what this does and where it hooks into the engine/tranny. Much help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Well part of it bolts to the block and the shaft part goes into the tranny. You wont be needing that intermediate shaft unless you plan on using the zc tranny

Ok i just realized that you said you ordered a zc tranny also. So you will need to use that intermediate shaft

ok so I plug it into the block and zc tranny, then do the axels just plug directly into the tranny on one side, and then into the intermediate shaft on the other side ? If im understanding that correctly it makes it so I can just use the 91 integra LS axles (left side?) on both sides with no funky conversions or custom axles ?
Thanks

Yes, one axle will plug from the passenger side and the other plugs in from the driver side. You'll notice that the inter shaft allows for equal length of the axles. As for which axles, I heard that 89 integra work as well as 90-93.

Too bad the search isn't work. I read on a configuration two weeks ago.

90-93 Integra axles - you need both right and left (not 2 of one side) - the driver's side inner CV joint has longer splines where it goes into intermediate shaft - the passenger's side has shorter splines and a smooth area that the seal in the transmission rides on - use 2 left axles and you will leak transmission fluid - 88-89 Integra are too short

Thanks for the info !!! I assume if I get the left and right shafts of a 90-93 that they will be the same length (except the splines) and will fit with no additional problems ?
Also I was planning on replacing the water pump, timing belt, and a few oil seals, anyone have a good link to a parts list so I can get them a head of time
Thanks again guys !

Now, you don't need all of these parts to swap the motor. However it will be handy to keep this list saved on your hard drive if you ever need to replace anything on the motor.

You need:
b16a tranny
b16a engine
b16a mounts for your car check with hasport
axles
wiring
computer
shiftlinkage for your setup
intake
header
exhaust
tools to do the swap
air tools help
k thats all i could think of off top of my head.

DEF

If you use 90-93 NON ABS Manual Integra Axles you will need a 90-93 NON ABS Manual Intermediate shaft.

ECU should be PW0 or PR3. PW0 is from the 1st generation SIR motor. PR3 is from the Integra XSI motor.

You don't need new exhaust, however it would be nice to replace at time of motor swap.

Some B16 motors come with factory header and downpipe. If it does not come with either, then you will need a header and downpipe. I happen to have 2 stock B16 headers and 1 stock downpipe. Your old D Series header will not fit on the B16 motor.

Also, if your current car is an HF model then you will need to upgrade your knuckles and hubs on your brakes to those from an SI or DX. I chose to swap the whole brake system over from a 91 Civic LX. Same as SI and DX basically.

Realistically, that is all you need, unless there are any sensors that need replaced on the B16. Not all B16's come to us perfect, but that's why you order from a respected seller like Hmotors or Nippon. Everyone has bad experiences so let's not make this a bash on JDM Motor distributors discussion.

Good luck and if you have any more questions feel free to PM me.

When putting in the I.Shaft just be careful not to loose any of those rollers, or any of those 3 pronged "things" i lost a bunch of them when i went ripping through my newly arrived engine. It's a paint o have to go finding them....or ordering them..
