Default Vtec sputter?

Whats up guys, long time no post but ive been around, anyway.

Problem: I just noticed yesterday getting on the highway I was in 3rd and I always redline it when im getting on the highway in third but the other day at around 7500 rpms i notice a loss of power for a brief second. And then it proceded normal to 8500.

And I have been noticing tonight that now vtec engagues at around 6k sometimes and i lost power again but at like 7k rpms. Do you think its because my oil may be low? I am going in for an oilchange tomorrow, but I was wondering if anybody else ever ran into this problem.

I am right at the mileage for an oil change with 60,100 miles on the tach. 2001 ITR.

Thanks kids!

first of all, 60000 miles is way to long without a oil change.

second of all, check the oil yourself. It will be at the top hole if its full, bottom if it needs oil, and the difference between the 2 holes is a quart.

Third vtec will sputter and most likely not engage when oil is too low.

Good luck, i Hope thats all thats wrong.

I cant believe you didnt even check your oil level first! It doesnt make much difference if the engine os hot or cold, so long as your parked on the level and the car has been switched off for a few minutes, so long as its between the two marks then your ok for oil and the problem is elsewhere. Fuel filter maybe???

i say check the oil type rs like to burn oil! then if it still does it check your spark plug wires, dist cap, or maybe even fuel pump line may be loose ( happend to me once), also try to unlugg your ecu for 15 min then plug it back in, OO ya u can also try using the fuel inj cleaner that goes into your gas tank! ONE more thing your vtec controller if u have one could be set to the WRONG throttle position...i dunno hope that helped...
