I have a 1984 CRX 1.5 that is having a little problem. She's currently off the road until I figure this out.

So she'll idle in the driveway for about 20 minutes and then the temp needle starts to move up from halfway. The radiator fan will come on, but only for 20 seconds or so. Then it'll shut off. The temp will continue to rise and the fan will come on again, but once more, only for a short time. I'll shut the vehicle down before the temp goes too high.

Now, I've swapped out most of the cooling system tracing this down and I now think it's electrical in nature...pointing to the radiator fan timer. I was able to jumper the thermoswitch connectors at the radiator and have the fan come on. I was also able to disconnect the underhood temp sensor doodad and have the fan come on as well.

Do these things point to a faulty fan timer? Is there a way to test the fan timer?
