Default Help with VSS issue (relates to B16)... Please

Here's the story: I installed an ITR dash in my crx with an electronic gauge cluster, which uses an electronic signal to show the speed. Well as we all know the CRX has a cable speedo. So what I did was hook up an electronic VSS up to the speedo cable and wired the electronic VSS up to the gauge cluster and it works fine. But my ECU throws a code (for VSS), don't really care right now but i am getting a b16 installed and with this problem it won't be able to activate the VTEC. Please help me out.. no idea what to do..

Thanx guys

OK.. what my friend did was he used the old CRX speedo mechanism in the gauge cluster and fitted it into the GSR gauge cluster (which is the same as the ITR one). So he's still running the speedo with a cable.

Yes, you're right.. Vtec won't activate if the ecu throws a VSS code.

If not.. check your wiring.. It might be wrong.. Or another thing you can do is get an electronic VSS from a 92+ Civic... They should be the same.. and then just wire it up.

easy fix.
Get a VSS from a 94 and up integra or 92 and up civic.
Make sure to get the wire clip/connection with it.
The electronic VSS has 3 wires.
One is for 12 volt power, one for ground and the other is the VSS signal.
Use a helms book and follow the wiring on it, very simple.

i have done that already, I used a VSS out of a 92+ civic, and attached it to the end of the speedo cable and wired up the three wires to the gauge cluster. The gauge cluster works but i get that error code on the ECU. I wish it was that simple. Does anyone know what wire goes to the ECU from the gauge cluster that deals with the VSS?? maybe i can send a constant 12v to the ECU just to tell it that there is a signal. Would that work??

Thanx

No, that won't work.
You can use the wire the dash used to send the signal to the ECU.
the wire is yellow/red.
If you don't want to mess with that, then send an extra wire to the ECU
from the VSS and attach it at B-16 in the ECU.
B is the middle plug.
