Default WET ENGINE

Before I go out and spend unnecessary money, maybe the forum can help me out.
This past weekend, I ran into a nice amount of water. It went in through the intake and flooded the engine. The mechanic says the engine is done, that i need to purchase another. By the way, I have a 97 Integra Ls. I believe he is over quoting me on the engines, but is there anything I can do to save that engine?

All comments would greatly be appreciated

you will need to take everything apart and see how is the inside, water is really bad just remember that water can't be compressed so maybe the rods took the hit, did you turn the car off at that moment? or the car turned off by itself?, or you just keep driving the car?

I drove it just to the parking space which was about 12 yards from the water.

Sucking air in changes the pressure so much you usually twist rods and crack cyl walls. I would say pull it apart and see if the sleevs are ok.

pull the plugs and turn it over, if any water shoots out the top your usually in a bad situation, but that will help to get some of the water out. drain the oil, check the consistancy of the oil.

ps: i am drunk, hope this helps
