2000 is enough to built a turbo set-up, research and find out what you need and dont need. Remember not to go cheap on EMS...

You could sell your header and make some money. If you want power, turbo is the way to go. Just remember to get it tuned so your motor won't prematurely die on you.

If you dont wanna go turbo but dont wanna spend a ton of cash you could always go with a basic ls/vtec setup, but i think boost is deffnitly the way to make power on a ls. i put my kit togeather for about 1400 (not tuned or anything yet though).

boost it at a low PSI and enjoy it.

LS+boost= torque monster.

I wish I had boosted my LS from the beginning.

i have been thinking mostly to go towards the ls-vtech conv. If i go with that will the golden eagle kit come with everything to set it up? and what other parts would i need to buy to make it more reliable and quicker? Some search threads have said that valve springs should be put in cause after a couple years the engine could go. thanks for all the help fellas

2G's...LS motor

ITR pistons ($300 w/rings)
shot peened stock rods (about $100)
crower 403's ($600)
valvetrain upgrade ($500 + $125 for good timing belt)

header/exhaust/tb and that should be about $2G's nicely....get it all done at once at a decent shop to get the best deal

BTW, try and sneak in a b16 tranny

2g's...Golden Eagle ls/vtec kit.
CTR Pistons
Crower rods
ITR cams and valvetrain
Shop work
Tuning.

You could also look into getting an AN-R header...they run around $530 shipped with a street collector. Seen dyno's of them making 8whp over an ITR header. Really high quality.

get the aftermarket ECU(like Hondata or smth) plugandplay mode one.....it is expensive, i know, but it is the only thing that can get the horsepower out of your i/h/e setup right now.....the maps that stock ecu running right now are really ineficcient. You have to buy ECU, this is the only way you can modify your car perfomance, without it you can only damage the engine, or get smallhp gains.....furthermore, you will need ECU anyway with camshafts and stuff(to get the most out of them)

I think more along the lines of:

$2K...LS Motor

Non-vtec route:

CTR Pistons....$280 w/ rings
Crower 404 or 405 cams....$350
Crower Valvetrain....$300
Skunk2 mani....$250
Bore out TB(64mm)....$100(maxbore.com)

B16 tranny....$600

That so far equals: $1880

Now all you need to choose is a good header and Intake!

IMO with $2K in your pocket you can build your motor how you want it! You have 3 options: Vtec, non-vtec, or turbo! So do what you want!

I have a greddy 4-1 header and a greddy evo exhaust with aem cai intake. id love to do the ls/vtec conversion cause the yelling of the vtec. i dont have enough cash to go boost cause if u do boost u should do i right. how much would the shop charge to do all that work including tunning for the car? and would i want a hondata s100? my friend has a megasquirt if nebody has ever heard of that and will sell it to me cheap. thanks for the answers. its greatly appreciated

that thread right there is one of the reasons the v-tec conversion scares me a little. i cant afford a new engine if it messes up. ill spend the cash to do it right the first time.

So far i need:
golden eagle kit
CTR pistons
Crower rods
Cams
Valvetrain
Intake Manifold
TB 64
hondata s100
shop work and tunning
(lookin for a b16 tranny to)

If there are more parts that i need so that it will run great let me knokw. thanks
