FYI - My attempt at brake ducts for an EG
Hi folks,
A while back I put brake ducts on my EG and I finally got around to taking a few pictures. The work that other people had done was helpful to me so I thought I would share what I had cooked up. Here is the picture of the front of the car and the duct openings:
The brake duct openings are... drumroll please... 3" speaker port tubes from crutchfield - about $3 a piece.
And here is the main reason that I needed brake ducts:
The other problem I have is that I am still using the GSR 10.3" set-up. So the lesson of the day is 180whp + GSR brakes = boiling ATE super blue. It will also equal boiling Motul 600 if you try hard enough (even with the ducts). The GSRs are going to be replaced shortly with Hasty's 11.75" kit.
Here is a side view of the ducts. I used 3" 600+ degree brake duct hose. The hose is clamped in place with brackets I made out of aluminum. The hose is then zip-tied to the aluminum brackets.
Here is a close-up from the side:

and this last picture shows what they look like from the front lower view. It is probably worth mentioning that I no longer have a windshield wiper resevoir

That's about it. The ducts have held up well so far to both track and daily-driver use. Hope this is helpful to folks.

Phil! What's up man? where've you been? It's John (used to have the black prelude vtec). Missed seeing you at speedtrials, you headed out to the speedtrials event in feb??
Hi John,
I've been really busy over the last 6 months (bought a house). I will be at either the NASA event or speedtrials in Feb.

You make me laught George. I may have given up on perfect, but it damn well has to stop. It is hard to learn well on track if the end of every straight is a "moment". That, and my brake bleeding fetish has worn off.

Hi George,
I appreciate the advice - I have already swapped to a non-ITR 1" MC. I was planning on doing the ITR brakes but just decided I am so tired of fiddling with brakes that I would go for overkill. I want to get on track and drive, not fiddle with the brakes. That and I would rather socialize between sessions instead of playing with still-hot brake calipers.

Congrats on the house man! Have you considered the fastbrakes willwood kit? i'd venture to say that they'd give you more braking power than you could ever need
holy crap its Phil!! whats going on, long time no see (its Brian Black99Si from hybrid, etc. cant get my usual log in at home). hope you can make it to VIR in Feb, should be good stuff!

Hey Phil,
The ducts look great! Hope to see you at VIR in Febuary. It was good running into you at the F1 race at INDY. Funny running into people while far from home.
Thanks,

anyone ever thought of strapping it to the suspension arm? that way it would move with the steering, and you could bring it like right up to the edge of the rotor
That setup looks great, Phillip! Hopefully now you won't have any braking issues. Especially since I see zip-ties in the 3rd-4th-5th pics, and as we all know, zip ties = fast like a racecar.
PS- If you paint those Crutchfield speaker ports yellow, you will add 4hp on the Rice Dyno.
Jon
who wants a hybrid just like that one

Hi,
I considered strapping it to the control arms, but was concerned about wear and tear as the car is daily driven. I agree that it would do a better job of keeping the air on the calipers, though.b
