FINAL REVIEW: MUGEN 26MM front and rear SWAYBARS!
overall, very nice mod
reduced a lot of the sway that the stock R has around corners
but, also makes the tail end of the car slide out in some corners more and can be scary
i would only recommend these sway bars to an advanced driver and someone who combines them with good coilovers with somewhat high spring rates and dampers
these sway bars with soft springs = extremely hard to control around corners and IMHO not any better than stock
i realize these are hard to come by, but if you can get some,
quite possibly my favorite mod so far
mugen 26mm front and rear made my car go from having a moderate understeer to a neutral oversteer when i was running on Bilstein shocks and H&R springs
warning: these sway bars will make a novice driver overly comfident in their car and will cause you to push your car past its limits around corners, and can result in uhh badness
great bars, just pair them up with good shocks and springs and DONT under any circumstance take a sharp corner with half bald azenis with these bars, oversteer city
any questions on bars ask
BTW, fitment was perfect, came with bushings, and easy to install
these are HEAVY! 33 lbs for the 2, compared to stock which is 23lbs for the 2
i was hoping they would of come in the sexxaaayy moogen bronze, but oh well, they are gloss black

nice, i have never heard many people comment on these, and I figured that at least a few people on here had at least the rear

Where was this testing done? Did your lap times decrease with the Mugen swaybars?

Also curious where you tested these.
AND what suspension setup you have combined with them.

On the face of it, neutral oversteer would appear to be a contradiction in terms.

I'm a little confused why you put the front and rear bars on?
Most people upgrade the rear bar only, leaving the front end a little softer to avoid understeer (pushing).
As stated above, if this was tested on the street the review is useless.

It wouldn't surprise me...wasn't it not too long ago that another Type R OEM part was discontinuted? It was the floormats I believe.
I'm sure the K series is, and has been, their object of affection now!

Basically, phasing out some of the DC2 parts from what I am told.
Fun fact: The 26mm sway bars were made by special request of King Motorsports.
I bet they would make another batch if there was enough interest (i.e. group buy), but don't quote me on that.

I'd also like to know what track you tested your mugen bars at and how it affected your lap times.
I have only the rear bar and the car still understeers too much for my taste. I would have thought that adding the front bar would make matters that much worse.
I've actually found that half-bald azenis stick very well. At MAM, I wore my fronts down to where you couldn't discern any remnant of a tread pattern on the outer half of the tire and they stuck like champs.

Autocrossers (like competitive D stockers) like bigger front sway bars, I imagine they dial out the push with shock settings and tire pressures, oh, and toe.
But i do agree, around town a 26mm front bar seems pointless.

Definitely contradictory/confusing.

bars were 400 a piece
and im currently on Omnipower Coils, sport setup 12/10
and as for neutral oversteer, it is a commonly used term, it pretty much means that my car is very neutral, unless the conditions on the road arent perfect, aka RAIN, then the car will have a slight oversteer
i called this a final review because it's the last one i will do on these bars
as for where i tested them, a combonation of street, twisties, mountains, highways, and a skidpad circle
i havent had the money to test on a road course yet
and no i dont street race or test my handling near people, so dont even start with that crap
i would say, save your 800 dollars and just get some nice coilovers, unless you have 800 to spare and can get your hands on these
a group buy would not work out, because you wont find 15 people or so to buy 800+ dollar sways, and king motors wont do a group buy unless it was significant and there wouldnt be a discount
anyway...on to better things, like my T1R exhaust, review comming
BTW i have LOTS of pics and **** i cant post because lack of a server....any suggestions?

LOL.... By whom and where?
LOL.... By whom and where?
But...don't you understand that it's a contradictory phrase? Neutral means in this case not having any particularly distinctive behavior. Oversteer means having a definitely distinctive behavior. You just can't have both. If the only differing factor is the road condition, that'd be the case with any car, as in with a wet road, any car will have a greater tendency to oversteer (or understeer I suppose) than on a dry road.
