It happens again...and insurance woes
So it is now my second time as a theft victim. The first time they stole my rims, and now they went after the interior.
They smashed all the windows, stole teh seats, the center console (badge), shift know, J's intake under the hood...you know standard ricer theft.
And now my insurance company is trying to replace my seats with some found at the junkyard. First off, i doubt they can find type r seats in a salvage yard, secondly, can they actually do that? I thought the new items have to be of equal or better quality than the replaced items. Am I getting ripped off? Should I talk to a lawyer?
thanks for the help guys

The law here in Texas is that a person has the right to choose where they want to get their vehicle repaired and what parts are used. I'm not sure if it is different where you live but YES i would talk to a lawyer.
A lawyer is nice, although it seems you know you're getting fucked with. Confront them with it first. What company do you have? My insurance company tried to say they were going to use after market parts on my car when fixing body damage, and said I signed something saying they could. Just talk to them, I'm no lawyer, I got my way. Good luck

Usually all you have to say is no no-OEM parts. That's it, it's not usually a fight. They won't find ITR seats in the junk yard, you'll get new ones.
They put an after market nose on my ITR when it was at the Honda bodyshop. I walked into the office after looking at the front of my car and asked wtf? The guy laughed and said he knew I wouldn't accept it that way. He told the insurance company I wouldn't take it that way, but they said "try it and if he doesn't like it, give him the OEM one. " I had to wait an extra a day to pickup the R so they could put an OEM nose on, but it wasn't a big deal.
You might be getting a little worked up over this. After the State Farce ur.. State Farm class action lawsuit, most insurance companies won't argue with you over it.

I've heard type R insurance cases were if the whole interior is stolen they'll total it out. because of the high cost to replace it with oem new parts.
