Those forums are a good place to post for answers.

BUT, i can tell you what happened: bad apex seal or seals. The motor finally went, its an 84 after all. If you get a compression test done, i doubt it will have more than a few PSI. If your mechanically inclined, rebuild it. But since its an old 12a, it might be more cost effective to just source a whole motor from somewhere like partstrader or better yet the RX7 forums
Good luck bro

IF i lost the apex seals, wouldn't it smoke like a bitch?, second when i hold the throtle up at 3000 it becomes smooth with no smoke or shake but getting it to 3000 is tough... i checked the sparks and all four plugs have a strong spark, both coils are working and it even wants to kick over with just one coil but i won't let it (i know its bad) so Back to the start where do i look for a prob? i'll have use of my friends compression ck-er, later tonight to see if i have any.

till later...

Nope, wouldnt smoke because of low compression. The oil doesnt really have access to the combustion chamber, it only hits the back of the rotors. Kind of hard to picture unless your familiar with them.
Also, keep in mind that the compression reading you get from the motor will not be acurate. Here is why - each rotor has 3 seals, one on each tip of the triangle. If one seal goes, then two combustion chambers are going to have low (or no) compression. The third chamber might still be giving an ok reading, which will throw the compression reading off due to the fact that it only measures total peak pressure. it wont distinguish between which chamber actually has it. Mazda uses a special tester for this to get a correct reading. If the motor is as bad as you say, then chances are is more than a single bad apex seal though. Good luck with that.
