I'm not sure if this is a serious problem or not, but whenever I rev my motor, a bunch of black stuff comes out the pipe.

After further examination, I concluded that it wasn't oil (just didn't smell like it), and that is was probably dirty water (rofl). If someone else could explain more on this problem, your help would be greatly appreciated!

Oil has a bluish tint to it, unburnt gas is definately black. it could just be cold???

The smoke looks... white/bluish... with a little black (bleh).

There's 177k miles on the motor.

I *THINK* it's not oil, because it doesn't smell like oil at all. My dad thought it had a LITTLE gassy smell to it, so I might be running rich... How do you correct this?

A pretty large amount of liquid comes out of the exhaust pipe, including smoke when you let off after revving. Could there be a leak somewhere?

Any more help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

 

Sounds to me like you're running rich...are you throwing a CEL? That's the lil yellow check engine light that is by the fuel gauge. If so, then your o2 sensor most likely has bit the dust, it should be sitting on the left of your headers towards the connection of the down-pipe. If it's an EG (only thing I've worked on), then check the wires for continuity using a voltmeter, the wires from the o2 sensor that is. You can check the one's from the computer if you wish, but I doubt they have died unless you run near nuclear fission levels of temperature under the hood.

Btw, if you do check the sensor's wires, try the black and white wire, that'll be the o2 sensor heater wire, which is usually the one to go. Do not ask why it needs a heater, that meaning still eludes me and probably God too.

If you're running a stainless steel exhaust, they are prone to A LOT of moisture building up in the system when the car is shut off. When you start it up it mixes with all the carbon in there and blows out the back and the rest comes out as steam, so that may be all you're experiencing...
