CRX HELP
im chaNGING OUT MY head gasket.....well the question is that b4 i changed it, i was only getting like 70 miles to the TANK!!!! it was also smoking WHITE ( thats how i could tell the head gasket..) well can the head gasket be the reason why i was getting POOR gas milage?
it was burning plugs like every 10 days..it sputtered a lil bit but nothing major. The whit smoke came when i down shifted. ( head gasket ) <~~~ i believe and just replaced ! i was wondering if the injectors were the problem for the gas problem or do i need a fuel press reg. However i think the fuel press is about the same on both motors..right....please help
well actually to answer the autor's question the efficiency level of your engine is greatly affected but it shouldn't lower your gas milage ...........did you say that you changed it once before??? what happend? white smoke does mean coolant is leaking from the gasket into your engine components but if you changed the head gasket once already and torqued is down correctly then it should be just left over residue trying to escape your engine how long did you drive with you car after you changed it once if you changed it once??

water and oil in the chamber definately kill mileage. the oil makes the car detonate so the knock sensor will retard the timing and kill power.. the water in the cylinder is try to extinguish the flame travel so its not reaching peak cylinder pressure or temperature. creating less energy given the same volume of fuel = worse mileage.
