Then anwser me this.

What is this clicking noise, here are the FACTS.

Noise info...

-Noise happens abour 3-4 times a second.
-Noise is only at a certain throttle position.
-Noise sounds like a tapping of fingernails on a table, lightly, and quickly.

When it will and will not make the noise...

-Will make the noise while driving, from about 20%-60% throttle.
-Will make the noise while driving, if putting the car in neutral, and revving.
-Will NOT make the noise while revving in neutral at a complete stop.

Other info...

-Distributer makes a grinding noise at ilde, goes away after engine fully warms.
-Engine rebuilt about 4000 miles ago, noise started happening about 1000 miles after rebuild
-All driveshafts, and CV joints look fine.

Heres what was done in the rebuild
-ITR pistons
-full head job, port/polish, valve springs, retainers, valves, seats, ect
-new dist.
-Skunk2 manifold
-AEM fuel rail
-280cc injectors
-ITR FPR
-ACT clutch
-I/H/E
-all new belts, pulleys, seals.
-I have recently added 6403 cams, did not change the noise, valves could use to be adjusted, but they are not that bad, the noise is definatly not comming from the valve clearances.

ALL help is greatly encouraged, I would even pay you if you took a ride in the car and could tell me what the noise is

something resonating under the hood perhaps?

spun rod bearing would still occur at stand still idle revving....so it's probably not that.

what general vacinity does the noise seem to come from? is there any way to make it louder?

just engine, a little twards passenger side, noise stays consistant from start to finish, does not get any louder or faster.

I'm with speedymom....i'd start searching where you know something's not right..at the distrubutor, since that's also kinda where you hear something.

Could your distributor rotor be coming loose? grinding at start and hitting under load?

Hey, while were at it let's try and see if we can help me...
"Well, I'm trying to figure whats wrong with my car and initial assumptions were Tranny, because i was pullin a u-turn, goin into 2nd....then i heard something snap and i had to gears, but now, my left CV is all fugged, and the shaft slides back and forth kinda, but the shaft spins when I'm in neutral and the clutch out, then stops when i put the cluth in, i can shift into all gears, but when i let off the clutch nothing happens, i did pull the u-turn turning the right putting the weight of the car on the left."

wow, thats good to know, i was thinking the noise was the valves tapping, since installing my crower stuff the whole engine noise is louder

Check that double metal pipe to see if its rubbing against your strut tower bar, right in the middle (if you have one).

Definitely sounds like something loose thats vibrating.

damn you guys are stingy! I just posted here since it was already callin the tech heads, i don't see a reason to start another thread i wasn't gettin pissed, just don't be a bastard, I'm sure you were't happy when your car started fuggin up right? Yeah. Why do you really care if i asked a question in your thread? Maybe i came off pissed in my last post but I'm not, but i should prolly go have a after pullin out my tranny.

And Ralf, why the hell are you saying anything? 97 saying something is understandable, but what have you contributed to this thread now? Yes, I haven't either, but now people like you don't have one less thread to go post useless **** in.
