gas light on but i have gas on 01 gsxr 750

my gas light is on but i have plenty of gas on my 750 gsxr 2001. were do i start?

i had a problem wid this on my R6 and there was a wire that was loose, so i fixed it and i never had a problem wid it. i guess what im saying is, check all wire connections first to make sure they are tight
