The other day I get the call from my local police dept. looking for the usual contributions, and, as usual, they will send a sticker for the car that indicates I made a donation.

So, what does this really mean? I wouldn't expect an officer to look the other way while I run a red light, but does it mean he gives me a warning for 10 over instead of a ticket? Does it really help?

Does anyone have any opinions on the matter?

 

so you're saying that you do not expect to get a ticket if you get pulled over because you have that sticker??? That would be unethical......

You just gave me a sweet idea for stocking stuffers. The key is the placement of the decal for maximum effect.

 

It means u are the sucker who gave money to the cops and u still get no slacks if u get caught for any violations.

 

We have this thing here in Texas where if you buy a sticker the proceeds go the family of officers who have lost husbands wifes whatever. Think about that for a second. Most cops will let you go with a warning ticket or just a tounge lashing. It worked for me 2 times and that was enough to cover up the cost of the sticker.

 

A Friend once put a sticker on my car about 5 years ago that said "The Police are Your Friends" Well I never bothered to remove it a few weeks go by Im in some small suburban town and this lady cop with an attitude pulls me over. First words out of her mouth "What the hell is that sticker supposed to mean?" So I BS My way out of it told her that I got it at a Police Fundraiser

 

Has any one ever seen a "police Interceptor" badge on the back of Ford cop cars.
I am thinking about clipping one for my center console. That is the only police sticker/badge I would have on my car. Getting one could be risky....

 

the police interceptor badge comes on all police Crown Vics that have the "police package"....

to a certain extent, this "may" help you depending on the circumstances...

discretion had its own meaning to each individual officer...

 

i remember a couple years ago i was witha friend and his dad. HIs dad was driving and was flying down the road. anyway he got pulled over for speeding. the cops starts to get all his info and then sees he has a firefighter stick on the car. well the cop just told him to go since he was a firefighter with no warning or anything and this was like 15-20mph over the limit.
They guy has gotten off a couple more times for the same reason

 

cops and firefighters are very close, cops dont ticket them or their fellow brothers.

i was w/ a friend of mine whos a cop and we got pulled over for speeding (not to mention he had a FEW beers) the other cop asked if he had been drinking and he said yes,blah,blah,blah...anyhow after showing the other officer his id and badge the cop just told him "slow it down and drive careful,your making me look bad" and let us go.

 

my friend's dad volunteers at the police station in my area and he got a sticker. i saw my friend pulled over one day, after talking to him he said he was going like 80+ downhill in a 45 zone or something. well the cop saw that sticker and just chewed him up and let him go. i guess it all depends on the cop.

 

My father is a police officer so my ITR has a Fraternal Order of Police badge in the rear and "Chicago Police Family Member" stickers on my windshiled. No tickets yet.

I have gotten parking tickets though, guess they must not have seen the stickers.

I got one of those from the ford place and put it on my Explorer back in the day, it looked perfect cause it mathced the factory badging.

Nothing. The cops arent buying that anymore.

They (the stickers) make you look stupid if you have them now.

 

I hope that was directed at the bad ones only, which there are few in the squads. Unfortunately, they stick out like sore thumbs. I've seen many good cops at work and my friend's dad is a police officer who gives it his 100% everyday. If that statement is for every hard working officers, hope you never have to dial 911 in emergency. A general statement like that shouldn't be made. Happy holidays.

 

**** it. I'm just going to sell my teg in a few months and buy a ex-police car. Of course, it'll have two turbines and some extra tubing under the hood.. and a manual conversion... and it'll be the tow vehicle for my race car. lol
