So i am not to sure exactly where to start with this issue first off.

Recently while driving all my climate control\cluster lighting went off while driving. It quickly went back on. It has happened maybe 3 times within the past week and a half. Its for ten seconds at most when it does happen.

I only notice it at night, headlights still work. The car still keeps running and working properly when it happens.

There has been no new changes or anything done to the car recently that may have caused this that i can think of.

I don't really know what to look for or search. i can't even begin where to guess.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you checked the battery to make sure it's tight and not jumping?

Do you have the proper size fuse for your dash stuff?

 

i'll check the battery but i am sure its tight.
All the fuses are the ones that have been in there since i bought the car in early may of 2004. None have been changed, there also not the kind of thing that dies out slowly. they either work or they don't.

 

So your entire guage cluster goes dark? The only thing I can suggest is to pull it and look for loose grounds.

Most Civics have problems with portions of the climate control sparattically going on and off (lighting problems) and I've yet to be able to figure mine out; even after having it apart more than 5 times.

 

sound to me you have a short some where. I speak from experiance. My shell originated from a junkyard where it was left out with the windows open for a winter. I had tons of problems including wiring. But what do you want for 400 bucks. by the way it dont look like it came from a junk yard. and it certainly doesnt race like its from a junkyard. And it doesnt even have a salvage title.

 

Thanx guys. I thought it would be something like a short, bad ground bad connection. i wasn't sure on where to even begin looking though to troublshoot.

I need a main relay also but i didn't know if it would affect the cluster\climate control lighting.

Any suggestions on where to look first?

 

I had\have the same problem and I narrowed it down to the dimmer switch. I had all the same problems you had for a while and used to smack the top of the dash to get them back on then found just lightly tapping on the dimmer works every time usually with 1 or 2 taps. It doesn't even bother me enough to take it apart and find out why any more just part of it's character. (Probably a loose wire no biggie)

 

mine is flickering or out too. But, it climate related, when it is real cold outside, the dash lights are out, but after I drive the car a little, they start to flicker, then they stay on, solid, like they are supposed to when the car is warmed up.
