HF engine and trans
The engine is designed for low end grunt (below 3K)
I'm guessing 40-45 MPG from a light hatch

lol, ouch! Unplug a fuel injector to top it off.

I've heard of just an HF CRX getting 45, and this is from a 300 lb dude with 500 lbs of tools in the trunk.

i hear hf's can get upwards of 50 mpg. but remember..the sole purposes of these cars..are to get you from point a to point b as cheap as possible.

not to threadjack...but anyone know what the dx hatchbacks tend to get (mpg-wise)?

not the factory/EPA rating, but what everyone is getting in their stock or mostly stock ef hatches today, after 16-13 years or wear and tear.

I get 40 mpg pretty much everytime I fill up my 1990 stock STD. Those later HF CRX's were given a 52 city/56 highway mpg estimate. That's some good ****.

AEM crank pulleys and an unorthodox crank pulley. AC compressor and cruise control removed. Splitfire plugs added. I was able to do 340 miles on 5 gallons of gas cruising at 70mph. Highway miles though. Roughly equates to 68 mpg. I probably made that run about 50 times. Used to drive from Indiana to Missouri a lot.

Correction: AEM alternator pulley. AEM doesnt make that crank for the HF, at least as far as I know.

i have a 1989 CRX hf! great on gas but gas prices are high depending where you live, $1.95/gal, to fill up my HF is about $12-$13, and whats weird thats like 6-7 gallons fill up from empty! well, as I say, on a full tank to empty it would equal out to 52 mpg on one tank and i can get about 300 miles! later on all this will change when i get a motor swap!

I still got like 28-32mpg with my stock B16 swap w/ Y1 tranny. If I wasn't at 8k all the time.

A CRX HF will easily do 50mpg combined, if not more.

My '91 CRX Si can consistently do 39mpg combined.

there lighter, means LESS work to move heavy stock pullys, less work, more efficent the motor comes, and puts power to the wheels. sweet huh?!?!?!
