I have two questions 1. are the set rings on you axles supose to lock them in to the tranny. so with the whole wheel assembly togetther you shouldnt be able to slide you axles out at all. right ? 2. Is the fan to cool you engine suppose turn on as you starte your car or does it only come on when it gets so hot??

2. the fan won't turn on until your motor is hot

Yeah, the retaining rings on the axles are for just that, retaining it in the differential. They should require a little prying or a lot of pulling to get out.

2. no. It's a normally open switch. Closes at 190 degrees= fan comes on.
