Head Disassembly
I'm taking the head from my Civic to the machine shop and need to get the cam out before I take it in to save some money. I've pulled the 18 bolts that hold the rocker assembly to the head but it still won't come loose. Is there anything else that needs to be removed? Should the rocker assembly just lift off the head or am I missing something? TIA!
Pretty much any engine and similar parts that have extrememly precise surfaces and dowel pins are going to be seized together, so you need to "break" it free. Like connecting rod bearing caps, main bearing caps, the cylinder head, oil pan, sometimes wheels and the hubs seize. So keep this in mind on all your mechanical "fix-it" type jobs. Good luck with it.
Yeah, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. When I pulled the oil pump I thought it was stuck and it turned out I had missed a bolt. Fortunately I figure it out before I broke anything!
