vtec motors are designed to rev high because they make more power up top.

vtec, and non vtec motors were designed using differant philosophies on where in the power band to fuel efficiently make power.

Basically the larger the displacement the lower the redline. That's why you see *** kicking domestic cars (read big heavy cars with big heavy high displacing motors ) that redline at like 4k, compared to *** kicking "import" cars (read little car with little motor that revs like a goddamned sport bike) that redline at 9k. That's why the redline of a 1.6 liter D16Y8 is higher than that of the 2.0 liter B20. Just a little info. for more information check out Endyn in their archives someplace or do a search.

are u guys sure that the 97 Ex redline on 7200 or 7250?
Mine tach shows redline at around 6900.And i know that the fuel cut off is at around 7200.
Though i have a 98, i am dam sure honda didnt change engine on the 97 and 98 on the Ex.
i know that the 92-95 Si has higher redline.
