1996 Accord LX 4 Cylinder Distributor Question
Hello guys. I am new to the forum. My uncle has a 1996 Honda Accord LX with a 4 cylinder engine. I usually deal with Mitsubishis so I wanted to ask you guys a question. His car has been throwing CEL codes for the CAM sensor:
"DTC P 1381 indicates intermittent interruption in CYP sensor circuit. DTC P1382 indicates no signal in CYP sensor circuit."
I am not sure if he got one or both of these codes, but Pepboys told him he needs a new distributor at the price of $700. I told him to forget that and that I'd order him a used distributor from a junkyard for $50 with a 30 day warranty in case it is bad. Anyway, my main question is - are these 1996 LX distributors adjustable? If the answer is yes, do they adjust simply by rotating the distributor before bolting it in?
I would appreciate any other tips/advice. Thanks guys!

I once accidentally installed my 94 EX distributor backwards and "forced" the distributor drive key a bit w/ pullin of bolts before realizing my mistake. The force was enough to disturb the internal sensors (there are 3 sensors). I had a sensor error CEL set shortly intermittently after correcting the installation.
I removed the distributor to examine, disassembled the distributor and found a retaining plate had been bent backwards slightly repositioning the senosrs. I was able to straighten and re-install the plate solving the problem.
good luck

Appreciate the offers guys. I am going to go with a junkyard distributor for $50 because they'll keep replacing it or refund my money if I get a bad one.
