how do you take off a tranny oil fill plug/bolt if it has been rouned?
this is a bitch. the bolt was in bad shape so a 17mm wrench wouldnt go on. it would just barely get the tip of the bolt. i tried that failed. then i tried a lock wrench or whatever you call it. that failed. then i drilled a hole though it put some broke drill bits in the hole then used the lock wrench. that failed, bits broke everytime. i dont know what else to do now, so i need help i only filled the tranny fluid up the the axels thats the only why i could get the fluid in. so its not even full. but enough to move round the lot i think. so how do you take off the tranny oil plug/bolt if its rounded with a lil hole in it? and one more thing its tight as F**K.
Dude use vise grips......you just didnt make them tight enough. Put some muscle's behind those things it will for sure take that bolt out. I work at a oil change shop and I get sooooo pissed when the dumbass before me puts a oil drain plug or a gearbox plug with what seems like a damn impact gun. I mean how damn tight do they actually think something like that needs to be???

heres what u do ok. get a VISE GRIP brand vice grip, brand new. get a nice beefy one. brand new because the teeth will still be sharp. get the one that doesnt have the flat pinchers but the ones that are flat for a little bit then curve, get it at home depot you will see the exact one. go home with that, find a nice spot to put it on flat and flush and put that thing on as HARD AS U ****** ******* CAN. think about your ex girlfriend that cheated on you or your shitty boss at work while doing this. And yell FUUUUUUUUUUCK as u squeeze, u will get it tightest this way. then put your head at rear of your car with your legs facing the front. Then, laying on your back, BOOT that ******* vice grips, the bolt will come loose! Then drink a beer while getting head, you will have never felt more satisfied in your life

I had the same problem with my tranny plug, and I tried SOOOO hard to get it off, I even bent my wrench. sometimes muscle doesn't work. What I did was soaked it a bunch of times with wd-40 and what not, then applied a torch to the bolt, the faster it heats up the more likely it'll come loose, so try to use a good torch if you have one. Once its hot, try to get it off with the vise grips, or try cooling it with water/heating it up again. Good luck!
Sears sells a bolt-out kit thats impact grade. great for taking out rounded bolts and nuts. uses the same idea that an easy-out uses for broken manifold studs and bolts the lose their heads.
for future reference for everyone here:
do not put a wrench or ratchet on there and use arm strength to loosen the bolt.
put a wrench on there, hold it on there straight where it is around the bolt, and hit the other end of the wrench with a hammer.
won't strip.
and, doesn't require any strength whatsoever.. like a makeshift impact gun.
Mackenzie: sounds like your **** was fucked before you got to it, so my idea wouldn't help because some other fuckup screwed up.
